As a member of Alpha Chi Omega, your daughter will reap innumerable and lifelong benefits. Here are just a few of the reasons why becoming a member of Alpha Chi Omega is such a rewarding experience.
Friendship
Friendships provide great support during college and beyond. As an Alpha Chi at UCSD, your daughter will bond with over 100 women in our chapter and over 800 in Panhellenic who have a variety of interests and are involved in numerous activities. We help our members develop into the real, strong women they are meant to be, we let them know that each one of them contributes something uniquely different, and we makes sure each one of our members knows she is equally important to our sisterhood. We take our role as sisters very seriously so that each member always feels welcome and will never be without someone who can help her whenever she needs it.
Leadership
Membership in Alpha Chi offers women a variety of opportunities to hold leadership roles. Within our chapter, women have the opportunity to run for all chapter positions – anywhere from Web Chair to Vice President of Philanthropy – as of their first day in Alpha Chi. Within the Greek community at UCSD, our members have the opportunity to run for various Panhellenic positions, anywhere from Panhellenic President to Greek Week Chair. In the greater UCSD community, our sisters are involved in various activities, clubs, and organizations. Please see the campus involvement link under the member’s tab for more information.
Learning
Greek letter organizations were founded on the principles of successful scholarship. Alpha Chi Omega is committed to the academic progress and achievement of all its members. We provide academic opportunities through study hours, recognition for achievement, and personal attention. In fact, most of our women feel that their grades improved drastically after becoming a member of Alpha Chi. To celebrate member’s academic achievement, we hold numerous events, including weekly “Student of the Week” recognition and quarterly “Smart Cookie” dessert.
Service
Alpha Chi Omega supports the continuing fight against domestic violence by holding fundraisers and other events throughout the year to raise money to support this cause. Our annual philanthropy, Mr. Alpha Chi, continues to raise fund’s for Hidden Valley House. Throughout the Greek, UCSD, and San Diego communities, we dedicate ourselves to helping others. Our dedication to community service one of the most important aspect of our sorority.
Anti-Hazing
During your daughter’s membership, she will not be asked to do anything that will harm her physically, mentally, or emotionally. This is Alpha Chi’s promise to you and your daughter. In fact, each collegiate chapter must sign a contract against hazing and demeaning activities on a yearly basis which is kept on file at our national headquarters.
Alpha Chi Omega strives to fulfill the true spirit of sisterhood, and encourage its members to develop, through personal effort, a high moral and mental standard. As beneficiaries of the heritage and history of the sorority, we expect each member to be both true to and worthy of the legacy and principles of Alpha Chi. By becoming a sister, a woman voluntarily pledges to reflect the values and standards of our sorority. Each woman is expected to bring honor and integrity to Alpha Chi by positively representing the sorority and respecting herself and others.
