National Organization Founding Members in 1885
Seven musical students first founded Alpha Chi Omega at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana on October 15, 1885. Although we are no longer a musical sorority, we still show our heritage through our symbol and badge—the lyre. Our colors, scarlet red and olive green, and our flower, the red carnation, also memorialize the sorority’s autumn origin.
Iota Nu Founding Members
Alpha Chi Omega has over 130 chapters world wide, Iota Nu being our own chapter at University of California, San Diego. Iota Nu was founded in 1992 and has been growing in achievement and size ever since. To this day, members strive to conserve our motto “Together, let us seek the heights” by upholding the five criteria of a strong AXΩ’s: character, academic interest, leadership ability, financial responsibility, and personal development. Our house is strongly represented on and off campus by our beautiful, classy, fun girls who each bring something unique to our wonderful chapter.
